The farmhouse, also called the “terrace of Etna”, is located at the foot of Mount Etna, in the town of Ragalna. SciaraViva is a small precious farmhouse, with 3 bedrooms and a dependence, that has been restored by its owners, a young Sicilian architect and a French designer. They have furnished it, integrating perfectly traditional elements of the area with modernity. They have also used their own techniques of bio-architecture.
From the beautiful terrace you have a lovely view over the Mediterranean garden and the volcanic landscape of Mount Etna. The farm is a perfect place for contact with nature and relaxation under the shade of the olive trees of the surrounding countryside. On the 10 hectares of land the farm mainly produces organic olive oil, wine and various fruit trees. All these delicious and pure products can be purchased.
The owners are discreet, friendly and welcoming. They can give you lots of good advice on the local area and are helpful in finding suitable excursions on the Etna. Only 800 meters away, also reachable by shuttle bus, there is a good restaurant where you can taste authentic Sicilian dishes.
B&B SciaraViva is an excellent base to explore the following places of interest in the area:
- Catania, Acireale, and Mount Etna
- Taormina and Giardini Naxos
- Caltagirone, famous for its colorful handicraft ceramics
- Piazza Armerina with its mosaics of Villa Romana del Casale.
….but is also a wonderful place to relax and escape from the sometimes hectic modern life.
