ANTICA DIMORA PORTAZZA

Antica Dimora 'la Portazza' is a noble house of the late '700, whose meticulous restoration was recently completed. Frescos, tiles, marble and furniture in fine woods have thus regained its former glory, in a typically Sicilian harmony. Along with the already existing manor farm, 'La Portazza resort', Antica Dimora brings to light the original idea of the estate, as intended by the ancestors of the historic Montalto family, a place where they used to spend the summer season, grape harvest, feasting and handing down the old family traditions. These memories are still kept alive by the family that has today the pleasure to share them with their guests.

The location of the house is privileged as it is located very close to Lo Stagnone Nature Reserve. Here you can admire numerous species of migratory birds including flamingos, herons, cormorants, which find their natural habitat during the long route that in the fall leads them to Africa and brings them back to Europe in spring. The lagoon is characterized by the beautiful salt pans, ponds divided by thin strips of land that form an irregular and multicolored chessboard. In the summer time it is not uncommon to find workers who work the salt still following ancient methods.

The renovated house offers 4 very exclusive accommodations, all called with the 'Grandparents' names who have actually lived them:

- Nonno Federico (Junior Suite): The room is located upstairs and has a unique atmosphere thanks to its antique decor of the nineteenth century. The furnishings (pieces in mahogany and antique original majolica tiles) are in line with that time period. The bathroom is decorated in faux finishing and the shower is entirely covered with ancient decorated tiles. The room opens onto a large terrace (20 square meters) overlooking the sea from which you can admire beautiful sunsets over the Egadi islands.

- Nonno Totò (Junior Suite): is one of the brightest rooms of the house. A unique atmosphere is made by the bed in wrought iron handicraft, a Sicilian nineteenth cupboard and the very unique Sicilian tiled floors. This room also has its own spacious private terrace overlooking the garden and the inner courtyard of the house.
These two junior suites share a stylish common lounge on the first floor, ideal for meditative readings.

- Nonna Angela (Suite): the room is characterized by its elegance and refinement. The suite consists of a bedroom and a living room, and thanks to the large space it can become, upon request, a comfortable triple or quadruple.

- Nonna Agata (Suite) is the oldest part of the house dating from the eighteenth century. It has kept its original appearance, decorated with mahogany wood furniture, a lovely curtain embroidered entirely by hand, original floors and wooden ceilings. The private sitting room is very elegant, furnished with antiques, comfortable sofas around a fireplace with cast iron decorations and Sicilian marble floors.
Both from bedrooms and lounges of these two suites there is a direct access to the veranda and the lovely garden.

Upon request you can also have dinner: homemade recipes, simple and refined at the same time, in order to enjoy the rich flavors of the Sicilian tradition.

The villa is located in a prime logistics location, just 15 minutes from Trapani, 2 km from the center of Marsala and a few kilometers from the long coastline with numerous seaside resorts, but also long patches of free and wild beach.

Besides, it is easy to reach several places well known for their landscape, historic and artistic value, such as:

Selinunte e Segesta with its theater and Greek temple
Scopello and the magnificent Nature Reserve of 'Lo Zingaro'
Trapani, Marsala (windmills and salt pans) and the island of Mothia
